The paycut is a drastic one for us. We have to cut--big time.
And yes, rest assured, we are indeed very thankful that he still has a job.
After looking things over and over and shuffling the papers and turning them upside down and looking at then again...we have an idea of where we need to go. Tomorrow, Scout will go to the bank and see what kind of options we have.
We are giving it to God and have asked Him to open this door for us. We have asked for Him to direct our steps and show us the path He wants for us to take.
As soon as we have our path, I will let you in on it...right now we are leaving that between us and God.
------------------
I love how God choses to show himself.
Throughout this whole layoff process, the song Blessed Be Your Name has spoken to me and I have listened to it over and over and over-and now it plays here on my blog.
It was the first song we sang this morning at church..coincidence? I think not.
I think it is God reminding me that no matter what-good or bad, plenty or want, it is my calling to bless His name.
He gives, he sustains...he holds me in his hand and if he is for me then nothing can get to me with out first coming thru Him.
Is isn't always easy, it isn't always fun-but I will choose to bless his name.
I can wallow in self pity or I can choose to give Him the glory for what I do have.
I can be selfish and hold on to my possessions or I can let go and lay them at his feet and walk away. He gives and he takes away. Which will I chose to do?
We will lay it down. We will lay it down and walk away and find happiness in Him. We will find joy in Him. We will find peace in Him.
It is stuff- just a house, just furniture, just clothes, just a desk-whatever-and it is all His.
Right now for us is where the rubber meets the road.
Are we willing to walk the walk and not just talk the talk?
You bet!
It is a sacrifice?
Indeed it is.
But we choose to bless His name....we choose freedom from material possessions and choose a life filled with the abundance of God.
He will take care of our needs.
He will provide better for us than a life lived to keep up with the so and so's.
That is what we are seeking. A simpler, God filled life of love and happiness!
Do you have any idea how freeing that is? Man, it is amazing how different my heart feels to say it and really mean it!!
Proverbs 4:26 "Make level paths for your feet and take only the ways that are firm."
Love to all...

Hey Dallas,
You have a great attitude about the pay cut. God will provide!! I am starting The Total Money Makeover from Dave Ramsey! I highly recommend it if you haven't read it.
Also there is a blog called NWA Deals. You can check that out! I'm also making Duggars laundary soap. (10 gallons) It is going to save a bunch and will last a long time! Woo Hoo! I love this new frugal road I am on! It's fun! Walgreens is a great place to get FREE items too!
Keep trusting the Lord...hang in there...He will never leave or forsake you and your family!
Hi Dallas,
I'm so glad to hear that D still has a job(and insurance) and that you are relying on God through the trial.
A money saving source of food we are using is Angel Food Ministry. They introduced an allergen free food package last month, so even Scar may be able to eat it. If you tried them in the past, I think the quality and nutrition has improved quite a bit since we used them when I was in grad school.
If you guys need a low budget weekend, come down to Russellville. We would love to introduce you to some hiking trails we have discovered.
Tell all the boys we said "Hello" and we're thinking of you.
Julie
Praying for you! Keep the good attitude!
