Clocks a tickin'

"Want to see me do something really stupid?!" -Scar

"Want to watch me so something dangerous and really stupid?!" -Scar

"Who wants to see me do something really stupid?" -Scar

It's just a matter of time before we end up in the ER.

Just a matter of time...

Junk drawer

So let's play a game!

Let's pretend that my junk drawers look this good!

Notice that was a plural.....ugh!

I have decided that in the new house, I will not have a junk drawer!

If I do not have a junk drawer then the drawer will not be the drop off place for random things that no one wants to walk another 20 steps to put it in its rightful place.

Right?

So dear dear junk drawer, I am going to pretend that you are banished from my new house. I don't expect to see you ever again.

Ever

Cause my minions are going to be better about putting their stuff up.

Scout is going to be better about putting his stuff up.

I am going to be better about putting my stuff up.

Thank you for letting my enjoy my moment of delusional bliss!

I think I have another junk drawer to go clean out now....sigh.

Big big news....

I am married to a new Walmart employee!!

See, we live in Northwest Arkansas.

And there is an unwritten rule here that states...

"One adult in each family residing in the Northwest Arkansas vicinity, must have a job that somehow ties them to Walmart or it's affiliates."

What? You didn't know that?

Well, of course there is the slight possibility that I made that last part up.

Congratulations Scout! They are lucky to have you!!

A word to the wise

Never ever underestimate the determination of  boys.

I mean, they have they whole weight of the world on their little shoulders!

Best case scenario...they will change the world.

Worst case...they carry it off somewhere.....and not remember where they left it.

That's MY boy!

Scar shot his first deer this morning.

An 8 point buck.

First shot.

Dropped him.

He won a shoulder deer mount back in May at a Boats and Bucks event.

So now his deer is at the taxidermist being taxidermied...is that a word?

Taxidermied?

If it's not then it ought to be.

You should use it and impress your friends.

He will hang it UPSTAIRS at the new house.

Not downstairs...upstairs.

***DISCLAIMER***
PLEASE don't complain to me about killing Bambi and all that crap.
The meat is being processed and we will use it and are splitting it with my brother and his family.
It's my blog and I'll delete your comment if I so choose.
So consider yourself warned.

An Ode to My Brother

I have a brother.

He is a goober.

He is more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

He hates monkeys...that grab his hair when he bends down to pick up a piece of gum dropped on the ground while at the Safari.

Who knew there could be a Safari in Arkansas?!

He loves chocolate milk. Nestle Quick chocolate milk.

We used to race in the snow to the fence and back...bare-footed.

He played Soccer growing up.

I watched Soccer while he was growing up.

He used to scare pretty easy..."Thump! Thump! Draaaag!"

He was always better at Super Mario Brothers than I was.

I missed a lot of recess in the 5th grade because of him.

We used to scrape together enough quarters on snow days to order a pizza from King Pizza.

We were the youth group at our church.

He was forced to play school in the garage and work, cause recess duty was not fun for me.

He calls me often.

He harasses me on Facebook.

He texts me weekly.

He looks nothing like me.

He is slightly competitive. Slightly. Ha ha ha ha ha, yeah, I actually said slightly!!

He is funnier than anyone else I know.

He is one of my favorite peoples in the whole big world.

He went on a lot of dates with Scout and I.

He was baptized the night I got engaged, and I missed it, and it still my heart sad.

He is my friend and I am very lucky!

What's up chicken butt?

WHAT'S UP CHICKEN BUTT?
That is how my brother likes to greet me.  Endearing isn't it. I am hoping my boys love each other this much one day. LOL
(Somedays we are real crazy and use different animals!)

This is him...My little brother...running up the Appalachian Trail. There is a really funny story behind this, but I will spare you the details. But I will tell you the people around us that day...didn't think we were near as funny as we did!!

So the Hogs lost. It was a good game and I see no reason why losing to the #1 Team by 4 points would cause us to drop to the #15 spot. Whatever. No one respects the Razorbacks...that I do know.

But I'm not bitter.

We are still working on the house and it is coming along. Our goal is Thanksgiving. I am not holding my breath.
It just seems like house-building on the weekends takes a lot of time. Crazy, huh? I mean who knew it would take us this long? We are ready to sheetrock.....hear the excitement in my voice? No. Well, I need to try a little bit harder then.

I just want to pick out paint.

No, I don't.

Cause that's like a huge decision..and I don't do well under pressure.

Maybe I want to pay someone else to make those decisions for me. do what needs to be done and then just move in. Yeah, that sounds more like what I'd like to do. However, if WE are building it, there isn't anybody to do that stuff for me. *sigh*

Well, that it.

I have children to teach this morning.....after I take Scout his phone. Cause in addition to mom, teacher, chauffeur, nurse, cook, referee, librarian...I am a courier service. (Trip to Ft. Smith yesterday to pick up the laptop that was left behind as exhibit A)

Love and kisses and hugs and warn fuzzy thoughts to you today!

P.S. Come back later and maybe I'll have something of value to say. Or maybe not.

Stupid fish....

Turns out Swimmy, Scrappy's new fish is a girl.

How, pray tell, do I know this??

We now have 10 baby fish.

10........baby.......fish!

Do you know how hard it is to catch 10 baby fish?

Well, it ain't easy.

Skeeter and some fish poop

Skeeter has finally realized that GG is gone.

Daddy, Momma and Papa came into town this weekend and we spent today with them. We watched the Hogs squeak out a victory over Georgia and then ate dinner together at our favorite Mexican place in town.

On our way home tonight Skeeter asked if God could send GG back.

Then, he cried all the way home.

Yup buddy...I feel the exact same way.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

On a much much lighter note...

The boys have 2 fish, Swimmy and Diego.

The fish provided much bedtime entertainment last night.

All I'm going to say is that I do not find fish poop near as funny as they do.

For Granny.....

(Picture of: Uncle Gus, Granny, Sonny and Daddy picking at a family get-together.)

Granny lost her battle with cancer on July 25, 2010. She is deeply missed.
Daddy found this song and it was played at Granny's funeral. I still bawl like a baby when I hear it. It a beautiful beautiful song.

She is buried in a small cemetery near Denton, Texas, next door to the little white church with a big green doors and shutters that my Papa went to with his family as a child. She is laid among 4 generations of my Papa's family and towering protective oak trees.

I held my Papa for the entire service. I sat behind him(cause we we're late LOL) with my arms wrapped around his small frame as he wept.

I held him as my 4 beautiful cousins sang her home.

I held him as their preacher delivered an absolutely perfect talk about her. We laughed that day as hard as we cried.

I held him as we said our final good byes to her.

I held him. I held him as we were sitting by the graveside and a small gentle breeze seemed to come from nowhere as if to say. "Everything is going to be okay."

I held him.

Happy 4th and some incoherent babble...

---You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck---

Happy 4th of July!!

I am home today with the littlest. He's running a fever. So everyone else is out at church and the festivities afterwards. Maybe he will feel better tonight for a little bit of firework fun.

The house is coming along. We are almost ready for electrical and plumbing inspections...then we can sheetrock. Well, we can have it done for us! This is one of those few projects that we are not doing ourselves. Evidently, wheat is a binder in sheetrock and we figure the last thing Scar needs is to sit around and breath the sheetrock dust. No reason to chance making him sick.

We found out that even breathing it in can cause problems for him...like the time we drove to Daddy and Momma's only to find Daddy in the back field on the tractor...cutting the wheat field. Well, within in 24 hours Scar had a bad tummy ache. So, now we know.

We have had a busy summer so far. We went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee the beginning of June. We hiked and picnicked and geocached and swam and shopped. We had a great time! We have swam almost everyday so far and I don't see that stopping anytime soon.

We are taking the boys to Washington DC the end of this month. We are all excited! We are making a stop at he Boy Scout Nation Jamboree for a day. We got the boys each a National Park Passport while we were in the Smokeys and our goal is to get to all the National parks and get our passports stamped! It is a huge undertaking but it will be fun trying to get it all done!

I will wrap it up for now and I will leave you with a visual....
Scar busted his lip and bloodied his nose the other day. He was wearing a blindfold and running thru the yard and then ran into a tree....go figure. Dad sent me a comic the next day...I swear it was written for my boys!!

Where have I been?

I haven't a clue.

I realized how long it has been since I last posted anything...and I am ashamed.

No, not really. I am the home schooling mom to 4 boys and I am busy. We are building a house and have just finished up basketball with 2 of the boys, we do therapies everyday and Scouts once a week.

Anyway. It has been a long time and other than the previous mentioned stuff, I haven't been that busy! HA!

A few random things for you today....

1. You can never have enough Sharpies.

2. Never get so caught up in watching the lives of others (ie:Facebook, twitter..etc) that you forget to live your own great story.

3. "I'm sorry" is a very very powerful phrase.

4. There is no laundry fairy.

5. I do not get the whole point to knowing Pi...I mean really. Have you EVER used it in you entire life?

I haven't. At least not on purpose.

And in case you were wondering......
Pi= 3.14159265

And so our heroine rides off into the sunset in her giant red Ford diesel and leaves her big old carbon footprint for someone to fall into....

later dudes
