I should have known when I heard him saying "around, around, around...."

A Little Hike

Saturday we went to Tanyard Creek in Bella Vista for a little hike. There is nothing as fun or silly as taking 4 little boys in the woods. 

Skeeter was convinced there were monsters around and kept saying that he heard one.

Skipper wanted to know how much further..his legs were hurting.

Scrappy wanted to know what EVERY sign said. EVERY sign!

Scar stopped at one point and announced to me at the end of the line that ...and I quote..."Mom, Did you know we are in the woods?!" Um yeah--thanks captain obvious!

But really we had a great time. The boys found a couple of blackberry bushes and were in heaven! The were so fun to listen to and watch. They are great kids and it is nice to reminded that they really are a lot of fun to be around!

SUBJECT CHANGE:

Skeeter has recovered very well from his surgery. We are way excited to hear him say new words all the time now. I was praying Friday night after the surgery that it was going to be worth it..cause he looked so swollen and was in a ton of pain. But God has made it clear that it was a good thing!!

Scrappy's tummy is healing well. I am sure he will have a cool scar to show off and make up some crazy story to impress girls one day.

Never a Dull Moment

A few months ago, we found out that Skeeter is tongue-tied and lip-tied. Not necessarily a big deal but when you lump it in with the Apraxia that he has, it can compound an already tough speech problem.

We went to the ENT today and it was decided that he will have surgery this Friday morning (June 20) at 8 to fix the tongue part. We will not address the lip right now. The doc thinks that it is not a big deal. I disagree. But he thinks that we can wait to see if it is going to get better. (Yeah, um whatever!) Anyway...Skeeter will be completely under with a breathing tube during the procedure which should only last about 20 minutes. He will be on antibiotics for a few days since it is in the mouth to prevent infection , of course. Our prayer is that this will give him more range of motion with his tongue. Right now he compensates for his limited movement..which we give him major snaps for!

Just pray that the Lord will watch over him and keep him safe. That he will send angels to guide the doctor and to stand guard over Skeeter. And it sure wouldn't hurt to pray for me...I am sure that I am taking this harder than he is!!

Now for Scrappy. Last night Scout's parents came into town to help out today and thru Friday. They pulled into the driveway in their gigantic RV and turned the engine off. Scrappy immediately ran in to the tailpipe of said  RV and burnt a rather large area on his tummy. It looks worse than it really is. There is still soot on it from the pipe and he won't let us touch it too much. And I can not really blame him!! I had our OT's husband(Fireman/EMT) check it out and he told us what to do and what to put on it. 

I joked that only our child could hit an RV that size! So we are going to chalk this experience up to the fact that he has a diagnosed coordination disorder!

See...NEVER a dull moment. :0)

Vacation Countdown

We are 3 days and counting to leave for vacation. My whole family is going and I couldn't be more excited! 

We are going to Gulf Shores. This is our first time there. We have always gone to the Destin Area. So it  will be a fun adventure for us all.  The boys asked if we could pack the van today....um no, we can't.

Hopefully I will be able to find some time to blog a bit from there and let you know how it is going with 6 adults and 5 boys(8, 5, 4, 2 and 1). Pray for my parents..this may be WAY more than they bargained for!! HA HA HA
